annie immage    *”Hundertwasser Panel”*  –  Annie Nicoll

A beautiful, colourful panel inspired by motifs regularly found in Hundertwasser’s graphic works.  The panel is A4 and features stylized houses and lollipop trees, using brilliant contrasting colour.   The main technique used is appliqué, which is then embellished with machine sewing and embroidery.   The intense effect is achieved by using richly coloured textiles and adding small areas of shiny fabric to the design.

Janet image    *”Gilded Panels*”  –  Janet Humphrey

Using masking tape, wooden printing blocks and textured rollers, which I will supply, colour and print your own unique fabric, which will be cut up, stitched and collaged into small floral panels.  These will be gilded with foils and embellished with glitter pens.  At the end of the session you will have a few completed panels to frame or maybe feature them on greeting cards for someone special.

annie image    *”Japanese Kimono Quilt”*  –  Greta Fitchett

Make an A4 quilt depicting a stylised figure wearing a kimono and carrying a parasol.   The quilt is made with cotton fabrics and its small size means it is easily managed on the sewing machine.   The techniques used are bonded appliqué, with satin stitch edges and details and machine quilting.   Templates will be provided.

SORRY NO ALTERNATIVE DATE FOR SPRING 2020

gilli t image    “Kantha meets Boro'”  –  Gilli Theokritoff

A fusion of Asian stitching influences – Kantha is an Indian form of decorative running stitch and Boro’ is Japanese and means rags or scraps.   We will enjoy recycling old bits of lovely fabrics by stitching them through a background to create a new fabric  –  an ideal panel for a bag, wall hanging, framed picture, or piece of clothing.  It is a lovely project to take on holiday for a bit of simple stitching.   I’ll bring a basket of scraps to share along with your own favourite bits and pieces.    Hand stitching, suitable for all abilities.
