Collaborative Garden project

Following the various on-line projects that were completed during lockdown, and still in the state of social distancing, the next challenge to be set for LTG members was the Collaborative Garden Project. The inspiration for this came from the book ‘Inside This Garden‘ by Angela Cartwright and Sarah Fishburn (2009) which two of our members (Anne Bruntlett and Viv Denscombe) had found to be both inspiring and visually exciting. The project reflected the ways in which, in the words of the book’s authors, gardens can ‘celebrate the insouciant spirit we each feel as we step into our own real-life outdoor spaces. We close our eyes and breathe in the mingled scents of earth and verdant plant life. We listen to irresistible birdsong and insect buzz as our imagination roams, and the cares of the world fall away’

Gardens – inspiration in fabric, paper and thread

The exhibition took place between 30th March and 8th April 2022 at Trent College, Long Eaton. The works exhibited at the Living Threads Group 2022 Exhibition are shown below.
